A new camera totebag

You know my motto-

"use what you have"

There used to be a show where the decorator people would come in and remodel only using what was already in the house. Genius!

Well when we invested in a slr camera spring 2010 I needed a camera bag.

Couldn't find one I liked.

Anywhere.

And if I was gonna pay the $80 tag price I wanted something I really liked.

So for the last 18 months I have been using what I had....

hideously ridiculus

old.school.

I have had time to think about what I wanted in a bag...

shoulder straps, not too big, room for other things like phone, keys, water bottle

And what do you know I found this at a yard sale the other day...

Perfect, I took dividers from the old bag and pinned them in to separate the extra lens from the camera. I rarely take more than two lenses anywhere.

It had a nice front pocket for the charger and usb cord. I love it!

And that is why I garage sale, because you just never know what you are gonna find for

$2!

My Camera

I realized I've never told about this amazing gift I got last year for mother's day...I just want rain boots this year and a broom....that silly puppy destroyed mine

A dear friend asked about what I did so here's what I told her....

  • Cody (aka mr. incredible )got me a canon rebel xsi, last year- lowest slr camera you can get it came with a standard lens, 18-55mm I used it all year then for christmas I got an awesome little lens (50mm)  and a telephoto 75-300mm lens.
  • I read some tutorials....I don't edit a whole lot mostly straight out of the camera- If I do edit it's in picasa (no access to photoshop)

i think the most important thing is to know your camera, know what it'l do before my point and shoot died I had gotten to getting some good pictures with it,

the other lens 50 mm I love is one a friend suggested, it's smaller than the original lens I got so I keep it attached all the time, it allows lots of light in (that's a high apperature) so I get good pictures and it's really close up, but it's only one setting you don't move it....

another idea for just getting good shots is get close to the subject, I also look at a lot of online photos for ideas of what to do/creative things...just take lots of pictures, it's so easy to delete....I never use preset options,( sports, outside, night) I manually set it up and never never ever use flash, you don't have to...most of mine is trial and error

Ode to a Camera (or 2)

pWe go way back you and me,
to when the big ones were less than three
I was so excited on that black friday
I went home and put my 35mm quietly away

A Digital,a preview I see
with Easy share features, you were hardly free

I am sorry you got put away
when another camera came
But then you broke on me
And that was lame

You ..little discreet and compact thing
were a surprise gift from my hubby
so excited, I wanted to sing
You captured that new little girl so sweet and chubby

But alas your size was your demise
and you fell right before my very eyes
not once but hundred times galore
with a bang you hit the concrete floor
I will miss you and your charm
and that rubber band wrapped around your arm

Those last few months
you gave it your best
capturing my pioneer cooking
but now you rest
Goodbye blurry pictures
and rubber bands
Your duty is over,
I have a new cannon rebel in my little hands!
