Cleaning out the Ball Bag

Take me out to the Ball Game.....no more!

It's not that I don't love baseball I do, I just need a break from 3 games a week!

But my boy...isn't he handsome....

So we've completed the season and as he gets older they get longer, games and season. Poor Cady was suffering from heat and boredom... (prize for who ever can guess the candy she's made into a ball there)

Charis on the other hand had a budding romance going on....

But last night as I could finally clean out the totebag I thought I'd share the experience with you....

not too bad, leftover popcorn, half drunk D P ....

Check out that clown!

Life Saver!!!

Now it's getting bad....leftovers from weeks of ball games....spilt everything...

And there was a layer of filth under that layer...and my phone....dandy....guess I didn't leave it at home after all....

I'll spare you more details. Will I do it again? You bet, I'd be sad if he didn't play. I just need a year to re- coop!

How to pack a Baseball totebag...

We are into ball season....

I entered in ill prepared this year, I have a sunburn to prove it....

But I thought I'd impart to you my baseball totebag and it's contents

because you live and learn....

So here's some suggestions, feel free to comment and add more ideas, I need all the help I can get...

I like a stand alone bag, not too nice, it's dirty on the ball field

blanket (not too bulky)- OK is notorious for temp changes, mulitpurposes- bleacher warmer, we have a quilt that charis used as a baby to play on (from one of my first posts 3 years ago)

Lens wipes- ok is also notorious for wind! can't see the game with dirty glasses
Wipes, don't want to miss a play to rub off nacho cheese
Sunblock, never know when the 30 min game will turn into 3 hours and first sun of the summer always burns (which is no fun when it is 50 degrees the next day)
hand soap (I just add a small travel size bottle, but have often thought about bringing a whole large bottle, you don't know how many places I've been with no soap)
your own paper towels, for everything from drying your own hands to wiping up rain on the bleachers
hand sanitizer is good too

food wise- (man do they eat at the ballgames)
I like to add fresh fruit and nuts, but packaged stuff is good for keeping all the time in the bag
water bottles, I'm not a cooler puller- besides some places don't allow them
we stock up on concession candy after holidays for cheap
gum if you are trying to not eat a lot
I throw in like 2$ a game for popcorn, keeps me from spending too much
but keeping some quarters around is good too
the green container used to contain nuts but we use it for dry cereal now
the red container I bought for 1$ at Micheals

I keep several in the car for splitting snacks up.

other things-
sunglasses, a visor for when you don't have sunscreen or glasses, lol
pen and paper, for game notes or sibling entertainment
stain release stick or something like it, it's dirty at the ball park
first aid stuff
plastic bags for trash
umbrella for rain
small toys they've never seen before

On Being a Texas Ranger Fan

It's been hard being a Texas Rangers fan, I am not gonna lie.

You love em, you hate em. You wish they'd get a pitching staff. You wish they'd over come the Yankee curse.

We have eaten more peanuts and steak and lemon chills watching our beloved Texas rangers year in and year out. That's only in the last 15 years.

We've watch merciless bandwagon yankee fans gloat over 120 world series championships.

We've converted all the in-laws to Ranger's fans.

We've bought the gear,

(Where did this cutie chubby baby go?)
endured the Texas summer heat,

even celebrated dad's 65th birthday at a game.

And next week I will proudly wear this shirt because they did what seemed impossible tonight.

They won a pennant. I made Silas stay awake for it. Inspiring the next generation for a lifetime love of Rangers Baseball.

I won't pick one person to brag on because teams win not individuals and that's one reason I love baseball. It's about more than one person.

As I prayed with Silas before bed, I thanked God for the day. For the win no doubt, for his grace that brought Josh Hamilton out of bondage, for hurricane Katrina that brought manager Washington to Texas. For the second chance the team gave him when he messed up and came clean last year.

But I also prayed about how long us Ranger's fans have waited for this and how long we've waited for Jesus to return. It's a glimpse into his glorious return- don't miss it- I have a feeling it'll make this celebration seem small.

Elated,

The Boy

Around here the grass really is greener on the other side. Our neighbors to the east were grandparents/recently retirees and knew how to grow some grass. So we borrow their yard for pictures occasionally. My neighbors to the north came over and took their Christmas card picture in our home this past year- that's just the way we roll on the corner of Wildhorse and 3rd Street.

Purple Baby and I aren't feeling too great today so we aren't going to Silas' ballgame tonight.

Since I wasn't running around filling the ballgame bags with snacks, water and entertainment hoping to get out of the house on time- I grabbed the camera and got a few pictures (on the neighbors green lawn)

These are straight out of the camera, no editing...

I love bubbie's freckles.

This is a look of annihilation.

You are going down Thunder.

He looks so 10, doesn't he?

My pride and joy. The one who made me mom.

The one who is a lot like me.

The one I can spot on the ball field because he stands just like me.

Hit one for me tonight, Silas!

Ball Bags

Baseball games officially started today. Did you know I LOVE baseball. We didn't get to play last year and I cried, literally. We are back in the game now and playing real kid pitch baseball! We carry EAston bags.

Here's what I was sporting- camera bag and kid bag. Filled with wipes, concession money, drinks, and a blanket.

Waiting on the ballgames to start. This is Bree, Cady loves her. Good times happen on the sidelines.

I should know I grew up on one as well- that's me in the middle. Best dirt around is at the ball field.

Here's my ball boy. His first at bat he got a hit, got to third only to be forced out at home plate.

We played 2 games, he struck out once and then walked. He played 2nd base and got 2 outs! Proud of you Silas!
